Assignment 1: Digitisation

Introduction
While preparing for this assignment, I was challenged with the realization that I am not a collector of
anything analogue, perhaps besides articles of clothing, which is more a necessity than a passion. Likewise, I
struggled to think of any interesting data that I was generating, that would be worth a closer look.
However, I have always had a slight hobby of playing music, and while I sadly do not have an impressive
collection of vinyl’s, I do have a couple of musical instruments lying around, which I have chosen to digitize.
My collection therefore consists of every chord in the C major scale voiced, recorded and organized on the
electric guitar, piano and bass. The collection is composed of audio files (mp3) and for the digital piano also
midi-files. Admittedly, this collection begs the question of what object is really being collected, which I
hope will amount to an interesting discussion.
